A PROCLAMATION
      WHEREAS, the Mad City 100K is a running race to be conducted in Madison, Wisconsin, on April 12, 2008; and
      WHEREAS, the race will be run on April 12, 2008, on the famous 10-kilometer loop around Lake Wingra in Madison, Wisconsin, circling through Vilas Park and the University of Wisconsin Arboretum; and
      WHEREAS, this ultramarathon, 100 kilometers in length, will be a test of the training, speed, endurance, strength, determination, and character of all who accept the great challenges required for its completion; and
      WHEREAS, the United States Track and Field Association (USATF) has designated the Mad City 100K as the 2008 USA National Championship 100-kilometer road race; and

      WHEREAS, the Mad City 100K will have been organized, planned, and carried out by a corps of dedicated volunteers whose only recompense will be sharing in the success of the athletes who run the race;
      WHEREAS, the Mad City 100K will highlight the City of Madison, the University of Wisconsin, the County of Dane, and the State of Wisconsin as places where sport and athletic achievement are valued by athletes, spectators, and businesses alike;
      NOW, THEREFORE, I, Jim Doyle, Governor of the State of Wisconsin, do hereby proclaim April 6 through 12, 2008
MAD CITY 100K NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP WEEK
